Can
you change the world in 5 minutes?
July 9, 2009-The Broadway Triangle Community Coaltion (a coaliton of over 40 church, civic, educational and
community
organizations that represent the area’s largely African-American,
Chassidic and Latin- American communities and includes the area’s
diverse array of ethnic, economic, business and religious
organizations in Williamsburg Bushwick and Bed Stuy) will get
5 minutes to present there plan of the Broadway Triangle. The
BTCC sent a
written request as reported here first to Community Board 1 to present
there plan before the Community Board 1 voted on the HPD re-zoning of
the Broadway Triangle at Tuesday's meeting. Will 5 minutes
be enought time to sway those neutral votes? I guess we'll know by
Tuesday.
BTCC
Makes Formal Request to Present at July CB-1
Meeting.

July 2, 2009-Broadway Triangle Community Coalition (BTCC) sent a
written request last week to present there vision of the Broadway
Triangle to
Community Board 1 (CB-1), said Juan
Ramos chair of the BTCC. This was in response to the City
of New York Dept. of
Housing Preservation & Development (HPD) who made there
presentation
at the Community Board 1 Public Meeting and at CB-1 ULURP meeting in
June. Both Meetings brought out protesters from the BTCC.
It is expected that at the July 14th Community Board 1
meeting to be more of the same. This time around Community Board
members will vote on the HPD plan. We want CB-1 to see
that the community doesn't support the HPD plan but feels that they
have a better plan with the BTCC, said
Anita Dunbar member of the BTCC.
